She Turns and Walks Away

March 20, 2010

I finally broke my song writing slump with this new song. After listening to my son Andreas cranking out a ton of original tunes, I decided to write one myself. I play all the instruments and sing all vocals. Andreas played the organ parts, and helped with the drum tracks. I’m still tweaking the mix a little, but here’s what I have so far. Hope you enjoy it.

You Got Me (2009)

November 24, 2009

AlfredoI’ve been busy re-recording a song I wrote and performed back in college. I recently got a copy of Logic Express for my Mac. This is a fantastic piece of software; a multi-track recording program. On this song, I play all the instruments (acoustic guitar, electric 12 string, and electric bass guitar), and sing the vocal parts. I ended up using 19 different tracks. The song is best enjoyed with headphones, so you can hear all the subtle guitar parts mixed at different points in the stereo field. I consider this more of a learning experience; a good way to learn Logic Express. Of course every time I listen to it, I think of another tweak I should make… This is a rough mix, and I haven’t read the chapter on Mastering yet, so it still needs a bit more polish. Anyway, I wanted to get it out there so my friends and family can hear it. I hope you enjoy it!

Someone Keeps Moving My Chair

Someone Keeps Moving My Chair – by They Might Be Giants
This claymation stop motion movie was created by my son Alfredo when he was 11 years old. The movie was inspired by the song Someone Keeps Moving My Chair by the band They Might Be Giants. This song appears on their album Flood. It was created using the application iStopMotion on the kid’s iMac

Your Interesting Mind

April 10, 2009

This is a new song by my 8 year old son. He wrote it and performs it here on his piano. I’m pretty proud of his writing abilities. As I record more stuff, I’ll put it out here for everyone’s enjoyment.

By the way, the CD (Leaf Yellow) that Andreas speaks of, is still in the recording stage. He’s actually written a total of 16 songs for the album, and recorded 2 songs so far. He has about 50 original songs under his belt. And a lot of them are pretty darn good.

If you like this song, check out Saskatchewan, another one of his compositions.

Tangram Land – A StopMotion Video

April 10, 2009

This is a short video that my 11 year old son made using tangram pieces. He created it using an application called iStopMotion available for the Mac. He then imported it into iMovie to add the music, sound effects and titles.
